Trail description

Take a walk along our seasonal trail this winter and discover some of the best sights winter has to offer

Winter is the perfect time to explore the lesser known parts of the arboretum. With many of the leaves now fallen, it's time for our many wonderous conifers (so often overlooked admist the colours of spring and autumn) to take centre stage. Wind your way through the ancient Silk Wood and the Old Arboretum and explore these marvels of winter.

Along the way you’ll discover some of the world’s most remarkable trees, including the world’s largest living organisms, baby trees, trees from Japanese and Native American mythology, and even a tree used for tattooing…

The way is clearly marked along the path - and helpful panels next to each stop will tell you all you could wish to know about the trees and plants there

Pick up your free map from the Welcome Building and head out exploring this winter
