We offer family trails every day, along with family events in school holidays featuring crafts and discovery activities!

  • Westonbirt Wildflowers Family Event - Tuesday 29 May to Friday 1 June. Discover the world of wildflowers and have a go at arts and crafts activities at our half term family event 

The Highway Rat Activity Trail

Follow the Highway Rat on an exciting new adventure through the arboretum. Along our all new Highway Rat Activity Trail, inspired by the book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, you'll collect food rubbings and complete fun activities.

Birt's 'I spy' adventure

Pick up our free I Spy activity book onsite or download, to follow Birt on his adventure to spot exciting things around the arboretum! 

The Gruffalo Wood

Meet the Gruffalo and his friends in the deep dark wood....

Bloomin' Marvellous Family Activity Trail

Get the family out on a bloomin' marvellous trail at Westonbirt Arboretum, and explore Westonbirt's flowering trees. There'll be fun activities for you to try along the way - learn why honey bees perform a very special waggle dance and have a go at perfecting your own waggle dance!

You can follow our family trail in the Old Arboretum (dog-free) or Silk Wood (dog-friendly). There are plenty of natural play features along the way too! Pick up a Family Activity Map from the Welcome Building upon arrival!

Birthday Parties at Westonbirt

Learning With Nature host birthday parties at Westonbirt. There are a range of different party themes to suit everyone from mini adventures to big adventures for older children. Everyone has a chance to toast something over an open fire and food and drink is provided with all parties.  For further information please email.

What's of interest

Westonbirt is a Children’s University Learning Destination!

The Children’s University is a charity dedicated to encouraging children 7 to 14 (and 5 to 6 year olds with their families) to try new things, engage in new experiences and learn outside of the school setting. All our seasonal family trails are now validated to earn three hours on a Children’s University passport. To claim your hours please email a photo of your completed family activity leaflet to
