Before I started work in the Forestry Commission I worked in the family business as a Secretary for a joinery/window manufacturing business.  I had a brief spell in retail with Marks & Spencer later working with West Lothian Council in Bathgate in their Rents Department.

I have worked in the Forestry Commission for 17 years. I started in Secretariat, after Devolution worked briefly in HR and the Trade Unions then moving to National Office Scotland where I spent most of working life as part of the Admin Team before finishing up in the National Forest Inventory Team.

Current role

I am part of the NFI team that is responsible for obtaining permission from landowners to survey their land. This involves sending letters, emails and making phone calls and doing the associated administration to update the GIS databases. I maintain our Equipment spreadsheet recording and updating when equipment is issued to a Surveyor. I manage the NFI mailbox and deal with queries. I also  monitor the NFI Invoice mailbox. On an ad hoc basis I assist the NFI Programme Leader with organising meetings.
